Hello my wanderers! This weeks adventure is about rappel. What is Rappel? It means descending from a vertical direction, you are basically walking or skipping down inclined rocky areas by a rope and a harness. It seems quite dangerous but with the right equipment and company there shouldn't be anything to worry about. Its better than it seems and waaaay worth it!
We met with Expert and certified rock climber Alejandro Solis from Xtour , an Ecotourism and Adventure company from Ensenada, Mexico.
He is highly experienced so that made everything easier for us, he speaks English as well!
El Salto was the perfect location, its a wonderful natural park near Ensenada. It's known for the camping areas, hiking routes, waterfall, rappel and rock climbing activities. Did I mention that it's great for photography?!
It's a NO wifi zone! Perfect for a peace and quiet trip.
We started with a review of the trip, the different routes and sites. Then we got suited up, cameras ready and of we went!
Its truly a beautiful place; the different types of vegetation and the amazing rocks and boulders make it a trip worth wile. Sunblock is a must!
If you are not an expert don't worry, It was my first time and i did great! They gave us a class on how to use the break system, the names for the ropes and gadgets you use to transfer yourself from different safety ropes, how to position yourself to make it easier and how to prevent any accidents. It is easier than it looks, believe me.
We did a total of four descents and one "hanging bride transfer" basically in order to avoid water we had to transfer using our safety ropes and hokes by walking on a narrow part of a giant rock. Definitely an adrenaline boost!
The instructor always stays on the top making sure everything is ok and helping you make your way down, the assistants are already at the bottom helping you as well make your way down and helping you with the safety equipment.
After we were done with the descents he had to hike our way back to the camping area, oh boy was that a hike! You have to climb in an almost vertical side of a mountain, but then you get to one of the most amazing viewing sites that make that hill worth it! Its the perfect way to end the trip.
You can stay there for a while and catch your breath or to take as many selfies as you need!
This adventure is highly recommended! you wont regret it, believe me! I'm not a fan of heights but i decided to face my fear and now I'm totally into this. You have to stay tuned, since you might see me doing exactly this but from an actual bridge WOW! cant wait!

¡Que tal mis aventureros! La aventura de esta semana es sobre Rappel. ¿Que es el Rappel? Es bajar por superficies verticales, es de los sistemas de descenso mas usados. Básicamente caminas o das saltos para poder bajar una zona rocosa, utilizando cuerda que va asegurada a un arnés. Pareciera muy peligroso pero la verdad es que si tienes el equipo adecuado y la compañía correcta no tienes por que tener miedo. ¡Vale muchísimo la pena!
Nos vimos con el experto Alejandro Solis de Xtour, compañía de eco-turismo y aventura de Ensenada, Baja California. Esta certificado en cañonismo y técnicas verticales Lvl 2. Está altamente calificado lo cual lo hizo todavía más fácil, no cualquiera se siente en confianza de literal caminar por una montana ¡con todo y mi miedo a las alturas!
El Salto fue el lugar ideal para esta aventura, es un parque natural hermoso localizado a las afueras de Ensenada, Baja California. Es conocido por sus rutas de senderismo, campamentos, cascada, actividades como rappel y ascenso de montaña sin dejar de mencionar las vistas increíbles que puedes encontrar.
Es una zona SIN wifi ¡perfecto para un tiempo de paz y tranquilidad!
Empezamos con una narrativa del trayecto, las diferentes rutas que tomaríamos y lugares. Después de ponernos el equipo y tomar las cámaras comenzamos el recorrido, ¡Por fin!
En verdad que es un lugar hermoso; los diferentes tipos de vegetación, las increíbles rocas y montañas hacen que el viaje por si solo valga la pena.
¡Bloqueador solar es vital!
Si no eres un experto no te preocupes, ¡fue mi primera vez y me fue super! nos dieron una clase para aprender a usar el freno con las cuerdas, los nombres de las cuerdas y equipo que se usa para transferirte entre las diferentes cuerdas, el como posicionarte para hacerlo mas fácil y bien para evitar accidentes. ¡Es mas fácil de lo que parece, créeme!
Hicimos un total de cuatro descensos y un pasaje colgante; básicamente para poder evitar el agua tuvimos que cruzar un camino angosto usando nuestras cuerdas de seguridad. ¡Definitivamente mucha adrenalina!
El instructor siempre estuvo con nosotros, a la hora del descenso se quedaba en la parte de arriba cuidando las cuerdas y ayudándonos a bajar, los asistentes nos esperaban en la parte de abajo también ayudándonos a bajar y cuidando el equipo.
Después de terminar los descensos tuvimos que tomar una de las rutas de senderismo y así poder regresar al campamento. ¡Una caminata increíble! Tienes que escalar una montaña casi vertical, pero cuando llegas a la cima es cuando sabes que valió la pena tremenda escalada. Es simplemente hermoso el paisaje, te puedes quedar un rato para recuperarte de la escalada o bien tomarte todas las selfies que quieras. ¡Manera perfecta de terminar el recorrido!
No soy fan de las alturas por eso decidí afrontar mi miedo. La verdad es que me gusto tanto que ahora quiero hacer lo mismo pero de un puente. ¡Estén al pendiente!
Esta aventurera la paso increíble en el Salto , visítalo ¡No te arrepentirás! Espero que estés lo mas motivado que se pueda para salir y disfrutar de las bellezas de la naturaleza. ¡SAL! ¡CONOCE! Aprende nuevas cosas, conoce lugares nuevos.
Recuerda que vida solo tenemos una ¡así que a disfrutarla al máximo!
